After breakfast, join in on a sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi. We will be visiting the majestic Red Fort: a marvel in red sandstone, and Jama Masjid: the largest mosque in India, which were both built by emperor Shah Jahan who oversaw the construction of the Taj Mahal.
We will also pass through the silver street in Chandani Chowk, before visiting Humayun’s Tomb, the lotus shaped Bhai’s Temple, and Qutab Minar, which was built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty. We will spend a second night in the Metropolitan hotel.
23 JAN 2018 (TUE) DELHI-AGRA
In the morning, soon after breakfast, we will depart by surface transportation to Agra and check into
The Crystal Sarovar Premiere hotel upon arrival.
In Agra we will visit Agra Fort which was built by Emperor Akbar between the years of 1565 – 1573. The fort contains a maze of courtyards, mosques, and private chambers.
Most of the buildings originally built by Akbar were destroyed and were replaced by his grandson Shah Jehan. The only surviving structure from Akbar’s period apart from the solid sand stone ramparts and the gateway is the Jehangir Mahal. It is the biggest private residence in the complex and its architecture indicates strong influences from Hinduism.
After touring Agra Fort, we will visit the Taj Mahal, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan, this beautiful mausoleum is built of pure white marble and is an architectural marvel that was built in the memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal. The building was conceived as a garden tomb with the mausoleum rising at the far end of the complex with the river Yamuna flowing below. Beneath the dome are the cenotaphs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jehan. After visiting the Taj Mahal, we will return to the Crystal Sarovar Premier to spend the night.
24 JAN 2018 (WED) AGRA-JHANSI-ORCHHA-KHAJURAHO
We will depart Agra in the morning, and head to the railway station to board the Shatabdi Express at 8:02 am and arrive in Jhansi at 10:43 am. From Jhansi railway station, we will leave to visit Orchha on the way to Khajuraho. Orchha’s grandeur has been captured in stone, and the palaces and the temples built by the Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century have retained much of their pristine perfection. Jehangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by graceful chattries has a spectacular view of soaring temples spires and cenotaphs. Upon arrival in Kajuraho, we will check-in at the Radisson Jass Hotel and spend the night there.
25 JAN 2018 (THU): KHAJURAHO- BANDHAVGARH
After breakfast, we will begin a sightseeing tour of the temples in Khajuraho. The temples of Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh are one of India’s unique gifts to the world. Under the patronage of the Chandela kings of northern central India who ruled 1,000 years ago, 85 magnificent and richly carved temples were built near the village of Khajuraho. We will spend the first half of the morning visiting the Western group of temples, and the second half with the Eastern Group.
Western Group: This group of temples is the best known as it contains the Kandariya Mahadeo. This temple is perfectly symmetrical, soars 31 meters high, and has a main shrine that is almost perfectly preserved. This shrine has an exquisitely carved entrance arch with a multitude of themes: celestial beings, lovers, serenading musicians. It has movement captured in the stones and is frozen in time, yet it retains the warmth of pulsating life. The stones seem to have taken on the sensuousness of the carved figures.
Eastern Group: Hindu and Jain temples make up the eastern group, close to Khajuraho Village including the largest Jain temple, Parsvanath. The sculptures on the northern outer wall of the temple make it the finest in the group. The carvings are timeless, of a woman bending thoughtfully over a letter, a damsel removing a thorn from her foot. The sanctum has a throne facing a bull, which is an emblem of the first Tirthankara, Adinath. The actual image of Parsvanath, from which the temple derives its name, was installed in 1860. We will also visit the Archaeological Museum, which houses fine sculptures and stone panels of ruined temples in three different display galleries. The museum has a huge statue of the Buddha and an unusual statue of a dancing Ganesha.
In the afternoon we will depart by surface transportation to Bandhavgarh. Upon arrival, we will check-in at the Tiger’s Den Resort, eat dinner, and spend the first of three nights at the resort.
26 JAN 2018 (FRI): IN BANDHAVGARH
The Bandhavgarh National Park is a premier wildlife preserve in the Vindhya mountain range of Central India. It is a tiny park compared to Kanha but with nearly the same number of tigers.
Besides tigers and monkeys, Bandhavgarh is also home to deer and many different species of birds. Bandhavgarh became a national park in 1968 with a core area of 105 sq. km, which was later extended to include two adjoining sal forests in 1986. Prior to this, it was the game reserve of the Maharajas of Rewa.

29 JAN 2018 (MON): IN KANHA
The lush Sal and Bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel “Jungle Book”. The Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh was founded in 1955 and forms the core of the Kanha Tiger Reserve, which was created in 1974 under Project Tiger. The Park’s landmark achievement is the preservation of the rare hardground Swamp Deer (Barasingha), which was on the brink of extinction. Stringent conservation programs for the overall protection of the Park’s fauna and flora, makes Kanha one of the most well maintained National Parks in Asia.
We will take early morning and late afternoon game viewing jeep safaris to Kanha National Park, and spend the night at the resort.
